The global production of phosphate fertilizer amounted to some 46.6 million metric tons in 2018. China recorded by a wide margin the largest production, with 17.6 million metric tons. This was roughly double the amount of runners-up India and the United States combined. These two countries produced around 4.6 million tons each that year.
