Agricultural water withdrawals worldwide by country

India has the largest agricultural water withdrawals worldwide, at an estimated 688 billion cubic meters each year. This was followed by China, which withdraws 361 billion cubic meters for its agriculture sector annually. Agricultural accounts for approximately 72 percent of global water withdrawals.

Water for the dairy and meat industries and industrial processing of harvested agricultural products is included under industrial water withdrawal.
