Quarterly number of employees in tourism industry in Iceland 2018-2022
In Iceland, the number of people employed in the tourism sector dropped from 32,906 in the third quarter of 2019 to 14,500 in the first quarter of 2021. Figures for 2018 and 2019 indicate some seasonal variations, but the fall of employment figures over the summer of 2020 indicate the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, there was an increase in employment figures since then, reaching over 28,000 in the second quarter of 2022.
