In 2020, many major cities experienced substantial reductions in air pollution. Although lockdowns imposed due to outbreak of COVID-19 had an impact on emissions, weather also effects air pollution levels. There were observed PM2.5 reductions of 39 percent in Singapore in 2020, but without the influence of weather the reductions were slightly less at 25 percent. Weather also influenced PM2.5 levels in Jakarta that year, where observed reductions were 20 percent, and de-weathered reductions were 11 percent.
