Leading reinsurance companies in Africa by return on equity 2021
In 2021, the leading reinsurance company in Africa by return on equity (ROE) was Tropical Reinsurance. Based in Harare, Zimbabwe, Tropical Reinsurance reached a return on equity of around 205 percent that year. This was followed by SCOR SE - Africa Branch and Emeritus Re (Life), which had returns on equity at around 100.4 and 89 percent, respectively. In 2020, the return on equity for the global reinsurance industry stood at 2.5 percent.
