Quarterly plastic waste imports in the United States 2019-2022
The United States imported approximately 120,000 metric tons of scrap plastic in the second quarter of 2022, an increase of eight percent from the previous quarter. Scrap plastic imports to the U.S plummeted in the second quarter of 2020, but shipments recovered in the following quarters, reaching roughly 127,000 metric tons by the third quarter of 2021.
