National expenditure on heritage, literature and visual arts in Israel 2014-2021
Spending on cultural heritage, literature and visual arts in national expenditure on culture, entertainment and sports in Israel reached almost 6.9 billion Israeli shekels (almost 2 billion U.S. dollars) in 2021. Between 2014 and 2021, an overall slight increase can be seen in the national expenditure for this activity. The outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic, which led Israel to impose restrictions on cultural institutions and sporting events, might explain the abrupt drop in spending in 2020 and 2021. A total of 55 billion Israeli shekels (around 15.4 billion U.S. dollars) was spent during the period under review for this activity.
