India: car safety star rating influence on buying 2023

As the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) was rolled out in India to address safety concerns, consumers were asked if they would like to know the safety star ratings of the cars while buying them. As per the results of a survey conducted by LocalCircles, 72 percent of the respondents stated that safety car ratings were a must-have, and 4 percent of the respondents said that it didn't matter to them.

Respondents were asked the following question: “Government of India is launching a car crash testing program BNCAP which will provide a safety star rating to cars. If you plan to buy a car in the next 3 years, would you want to know the safety star ratings of different cars? "
The survey had multiple questions and received over 24,000 responses with 68 percent of the respondents being males and 32 percent being females.
The distribution of tier 1 and tier 2 was 45 percent and 22 percent respectively and 22 percent of respondents belong to tier 3, 4 and rural districts.
