Car recalls in the United States 2000-2017

This statistic represents the number of vehicles that were recalled for safety reasons in the United States between 2000 and 2017. In 2017, around 30.7 million vehicles were taken off U.S. roads. Vehicle recalls peaked in 2016 and 2014: In 2014, General Motors and automotive supplier company Takata were the major culprits, while used car dealers were most negatively affected. Daimler, Ferrari, Ford, GM, Honda, Subaru and child seat manufacturer Graco have kicked off the year 2016 by issuing new recalls.
