The fuel oil- and natural gas-fired power plant Lennox Generating Station, located in Ontario, was the largest thermal facility producing electricity in Canada as of July 2023, with a capacity of over two gigawatts. Among the remaining largest thermal power plants in the country, all except Coleson Cove Generating Station were natural gas-fired and combined cycle plants located in Ontario. By comparison, Coleson Cove power station generated electricity from fuel-oil and was located in the province of New Brunswick.
