The construction costs of housing in Sweden were 1.6 percent higher in late 2023 than a year earlier. In 2022, the Swedish construction market experienced the highest year-to-year growth rate in housing construction costs, peaking at 15 percent in the second quarter of 2022. However, the growth rate declined at the end of 2023. The cost of building a home in Western European countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria also grew considerably in 2022.
