Global electricity transmission spending 2022, by country
With an investment volume of 165.7 billion U.S. dollars, China was the global leader in terms of electricity transmission grid spending in 2022. That year, the electrification rate of the country -or the share of electricity out of the total energy consumed- amounted to roughly 30 percent. The country accounted for over 50 percent of the global investment on power grids.
The expansion of the power grid is a crucial component of the global energy transition, as it assists the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.
