Number of recovered lost and stolen firearms in South Africa 2022/2023, by province
As of the fiscal year 2022/2023, the South African Police Services recovered a total of 496 reportedly stolen firearms. This accounted for around 6.5 percent of the total amount stolen. On the other hand, about eight percent of the lost guns reported were recovered by police.
