Total tonne-kilometres of freight transported in the European Union 2006-2012

This statistic shows the total amount of freight transported annually in the EU 27 countries by all inland modes of transport between 2006 and 2012, including freight trains, road transportation and inland shipping. A significant decrease in freight transportation occurred in 2009, in the wake of the global economic crisis. From 2010 onwards the transport volume of the European Union was increasing, but still hadn't quite recovered to pre-2009 levels by 2012.
