Number of deaths in Denmark 2017, by cause of death More than 53 thousand individuals deceased in Denmark in 2017. The most common cause of death was malignant neoplasm, a cancerous tumor. In 2017 it caused approximately 8.5 thousand deaths in Denmark, among them around 3.8 thousand were from malignant neoplasms in the larynx, trachea, bronchus and lungs.
The most common types of cancer

    Cancer is a common illness, and almost 35 thousand new cancer cases were diagnosed in Denmark in 2017. The number of new cancer cases over time generally increased. Among the new cases in 2017, the most common cancer type among women was breast cancer, and gastrointestinal cancer among men.    

Highest reaearch grant in 2017

    In 2017, the highest amount of cancer research grants from Kræftens Bekæmpelse (The Danish Cancer Society) was provided. Kræftens Bekæmpelse is responsible for cancer research in Denmark and is the largest disease-preventing organization in the country. In 2017 the research grants for cancer reached 410.4 million Danish kroner.
