In 2018, the gross national income (GNI) in Japan amounted to around 556.6 trillion Japanese yen. The gross national income measures the income generated by a country's citizens, regardless of where they were earning that income, while the gross domestic product (GDP) measures the value of produced goods and services within the country, including overseas producers in Japan.
