Number of farms with sheep in Denmark 2011-2021

In the period from 2011 to 2021, the number of farms with sheep fluctuated in Denmark. Since 2013, it decreased and it was lowest at the end of the period, with just over 1.6 thousand farms with sheep. During the same period, the number of sheep on farms fluctuated as well and amounted to about 135.5 thousand animals in 2021.

 International trade in sheep meat 

As of 2020, the export value of fresh or chilled meat of sheep from Denmark reached one of the highest values in the past ten years, amounting to approximately 9.34 million Danish kroner. The import value of fresh or chilled sheep meat into the country increased generally in recent years and was valued at around 98million Danish kroner in 2020.

 Livestock farms 

   The number of livestock farms in total declined in the past years in Denmark. In 2011, there were more than 24 thousand farms registered. Ten years later, the number of Danish livestock farms was about 16.6 thousand.
