The most well-known online travel company in the region was booking.com in 2018.
The COVID-19 pandemic that occurred in 2020 affected the tourism industry worldwide. The industry in the region also indirectly affected the businesses as more than 60 percent of the region’s business owners complained about the travel difficulty and restrictions imposed to limit the spread of the pandemic .
