The INC (Indian National Congress) had the largest share of votes with about 38.5 percent. This was about six million votes. The SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal) was second with 25.2 percent which was over 3.8 million votes.
The voter turnout for this election was close to 77 percent in the state.
