This chart presents the share of items collected on Italian beaches produced by the mismanagement of urban waste in Italy in 2019, by type of waste. According to the source, 29 percent of waste were packaging items, whereas smocking related waste accounted for ten percent of the collected items.
On 93 monitored beaches (396,750 square meters), volunteers found over 90 thousand pieces of waste, with an average of 968 items of waste per 100 linear meters of beach.
