In 2016, more than half of the insurance companies were active in the branch of property and casualty insurance (in Continental Europe known as "non-life insurance"). The German insurance market is marked with many differences between the companies, both in size and the products offered. In a 2016 interview conducted with over 23,000 respondents , 24 percent of them indicated they had one or more insurances at Allianz, making it the biggest insurer of Germany.
