The disease due to caries that most people have been treated for in Sweden in 2022 is periodontitis. That year, nearly 23 percent of people have been treated for periodontitis due to caries, while nearly 22 percent of Swedes got a caries-related cavity treatment.

The data is based on the Swedish dental health register (Tandhälsoregistret), which contains information on nearly all dental care performed in the national dental care centers.
