Light-duty vehicles' average fuel costs in the U.S. by fuel type 2021
Gasoline-run light-duty vehicles such as passenger cars are among the most expensive vehicle types in the United States when considering annual fuel costs. The minimum fuel costs for a gasoline fueled car is slightly over 1,000 U.S. dollars, with the maximum being nearly 5,000 U.S. dollars. This is far more than the amount spent on fuel costs by drivers of all-electric vehicles, which have fuel costs ranging between 500 and 850 U.S. dollars.
