This statistic depicts the average waiting time for specialist medical care in Italy in 2016 and 2017, by category. Over the period of consideration, the waiting period to see a specialist physician got generally shorter. The waiting time for a neurological visit went from an average of 12 months in 2016 to ten months in 2017. However, for an eye examination, patients had to wait longer in 2017 than in 2016, since the waiting period increased from six to eight months.
