According to a survey by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics, there were just over 1.61 million apartments in the country that year. The second most common occupied housing units were villas with approximately 1.1 million units.

The real estate market

Saudi Arabia’s real estate sector is expected to reach a value of 161.3 billion U.S. dollars by 2023. The residential real estate segment, which is majorly concentrated in key cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah, has remained resilient despite the COVID-19 pandemic, owing to heavy housing demand in the country.

Infrastructure in Saudi Arabia

In 2019, the value of Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure sector exceeded 6.37 million U.S. dollars, reflecting the highest value in the entire Gulf Cooperation Council region that year. Globally, Saudi Arabia was ranked 34th in terms of infrastructure quality in the same year, with a score of 78.1 on the scale from 1 to 100.
