The Consumer Electronics market is divided into four segments: TV, Radio & Multimedia, TV Peripheral Devices, Telephony and Computing. The Telephony segment is by far the largest segment of the Consumer Electronics market. In 2018, it accounted for 48% of the worldwide Consumer Electronics' revenue and 21% of volume sales. In that same year, Telephony sales increased by 4.8%, in comparison to 2017 and reached US$474 billion. Many consumers in Europe and the United States own high-performance smartphones, and the number of competitors in the market has increased significantly; an increase which is particularly led by Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi.

Coming a not-so-close second is the Computing segment whose revenue is forecast to reach approximately US$290 billion by 2023; a steady increase from about US$276 billion in 2018. In this same year, the segment accounted for 28% of the worldwide Consumer Electronics' revenue; with its revenue increasing by 0.4%, in comparison to 2017.

The TV, Radio & Multimedia segment is the third largest segment of the Consumer Electronics market. Revenue accruing from this segment is forecast to increase by approximately US$29 billion between 2018 and 2023, and this predicted year-on-year growth is largely driven by televisions and smart devices, like smart speakers.

The revenue of the TV Peripheral Devices segment, the smallest segment of the Consumer Electronics market, is predicted to amount to US$11 billion by 2023, up from US$8 billion in 2018. The Smart Streaming Devices subsegment in this segment is set to account for 78% of revenues accruing from TV Peripheral Devices by 2023; an increase from 35% in 2018.
