Basic landscaping services and rising levels of employment

Roughly 80 percent of companies in the landscape industry offered landscape maintenance services in North America in 2022. This service constitutes the bulk of landscaping amenities offered in this industry, which include basic maintenance such as lawn care and mowing. With these services in such high demand, the number of landscaping and groundskeeping workers increased by almost 25,000 between 2021 and 2022, with mean annual wages also increasing year-on-year since 2013. This could suggest a saturated market for basic landscaping services, implying that leading landscaping companies in North America should diversify their range of services in order to further increase their already significant combined revenue that was generated in 2022.

A small and diverse industry in the United States

In the United States, the landscaping services industry is composed of many smaller companies scattered across the country. For instance, two of the largest and most populous states in California and Texas were home to 33 leading landscaping companies. While being numerous and having a nationwide presence, landscaping firms are quite heterogenous in terms of revenue. BrightView have been the company that has consistently generated the highest revenue in the United States, and recorded an annual revenue of almost 2.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2022. Another big earner has been TruGreen, who accumulated 1.5 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in 2022.
