Share of second-hand shoppers worldwide as of June 2023, by generation

Around 59 percent of Gen Z consumers –those born between 1995 to 2012 – bought secondhand items in the past 12 months of 2023. This is according to the latest results from the Statista Consumer Insights, which shows that some 56 percent of Millennials also fall into this category. Meanwhile, the trend of buying secondhand items is not so prevalent among Baby Boomers, as just 42 percent of the consumers born between 1946 to 1964 were active in the secondhand marketplace.
