In 2020, there were approximately 1.3 thousand cases of child abuse investigated in Singapore. The increase in the number of cases from 2015 onwards was attributed to the introduction of more rigorous screening tools and training to spot such cases of abuse for professionals working with children, such as educators, social workers, counsellors, and health professionals.
