In 2022, the number of airport passengers in Thailand amounted to approximately 63 million. That year, the growth of airport passenger volume in the country increased from the previous years significantly. Thailand's air transportation industry has been heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but is recovering after the government relaxed the COVID-19 regulations and re-opened the country for international tourism.

Famous tourist attractions in Thailand draw millions of foreign visitors each year, resulting in the yearly influx of international tourist arrivals, up until 2020. In 2022, the airports in Thailand, including Suvarnabhami Airport, Don Mueang Airport, and Chiang Mai Airport, among others registered around 24 million international passengers in total. Recently, the Thai government relaxed the COVID-19 restrictions for people entering the kingdom in the hope of picking up the tourism economy and the domestic air transportation.
