Brazil: number of wildfires 2020, by biome

From January 1st to September 13th of 2020, more than 62.6 thousand wildfire outbreaks were detected in the Amazon Rainforest, according to Brazil's National Institute for Space Research (INPE, as abbreviated in Portuguese). That makes the Amazon the Brazilian biome most affected by wildfires in the given period. Furthermore, almost 37 thousand forest fires were identified in the Cerrado - Brazil's equivalent to a tropical savanna.
