Number of points of sale for fuel in Sweden 2008-2018, by type
In the past ten years, the number of points of sale for fuel in Sweden decreased. In particular, service stations, meaning larger fuel sale points with shop and car related services, experienced the highest decline. While the number amounted to nearly 1.5 thousand in 2008, only 824 service stations were operated ten years later. Machine stations were most common in Sweden, with an amount of 1,770 as of 2018. These points of sale are unmanned and customers can pay via automat. Additionally, there were 65 normal gas stations, with various pumps and a shop, in Sweden that year.
