Japan: domestic airmail transport volume on local lines 2017

In fiscal year 2017, almost 22 thousand tons of mail were carried on local lines in Japan via domestic flights. Airmail is commonly transported domestically as air freight on passenger flights operated by the major Japanese airlines Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways.

Trunk airports include the New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido, the Haneda Airport and Narita International Airport in Tokyo, the Itami Airport and Kansai International Airport in Osaka, the Fukuoka Airport in Fukuoka, and the Naha Airport in Okinawa.
