In 2021, of the roughly 232.4 thousand construction permits issued in South Korea, most were used for commercial and residential buildings. Totaling around 85.1 thousand and 82.9 thousand permits respectively, they are far ahead of other permit uses. The least use building permit type was for educational and social use buildings, with only 8,527 permit issued.
