India: average daily earnings of urban casual laborers by gender

As per the Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS), the average wage for male casual laborer in urban areas during Aril to June 2022 in India was 483 rupees per day. Female laborers have consistently received lesser wages than male laborers amounting to 333 rupees per day during the same period.

Wage earnings by casual laborer engaged in works other than public works was recorded for each of the day of the reference week (last 7 days preceding the date of the survey) when the household member had worked as casual labor.

The survey was based on 12, 733 First Stage Units, 101,782 households and 428,525 people.

One Indian rupee is equal to 0.011 euros and 0.0122 dollars (as of January 2023).
