Accompanied suicides to Dignitas in Switzerland from Great Britain 2002-2021
In 2021, 23 British residents went to Dignitas in Switzerland for an accompanied suicide. The number of Britons travelling to Switzerland for assisted dying has generally increased since 2002, with the highest number of assisted suicides from Britain occurring in 2016 with 47. Assisted suicide is currently illegal in all parts of Great Britain, although a majority of the population backs legalization in circumstances of terminal illnesses and extreme pain.
