Number of cities with bike sharing services in Japan FY 2013-2018

In fiscal year 2018, 159 municipalities in Japan had introduced bicycle sharing services, an increase by 24 cities compared to the previous year. Popular bike sharing services prevailing in the Japanese market include docomo bike share, a subsidiary of the mobile phone company NTT Docomo operating predominantly in Tokyo, as well as Hello Cycling, an affiliate of the holding company Softbank.
