Number of bike sharing docking ports in Japan 2013-2018

In fiscal year 2018, around 1,589 bicycle sharing stations were installed in Japan, continuing the ongoing upward trend since 2013. That year, 159 local governments in Japan reported to have introduced a bike sharing system within their municipalities. Docomo bike share, a subsidiary of the mobile phone company NTT Docomo operating predominantly in Tokyo, reported a collaboration with more cities to domestically expand the sharing business.
