Between 2000 and 2016, the consumption of antibiotics in urban areas in metropolitan France and in the French overseas departments decreased (in number of defined daily doses per 1,000 inhabitants and per day). In 2000, the consumption of antibiotics by the French in the city areas amounted to just over 33 doses, whereas in 2016 it was around 30 doses.
