Employment change due to the COVID-19 in Poland 2020

In March 2020, some entities in Poland saw a decrease in average employment compared to the previous month. According to the source, this was due to, i.a., retirements, termination of fixed-term contracts, and non-renewal of such contracts. In some cases, it may have been caused by fear of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the decrease in average employment was also affected by the termination of employment contracts or unpaid leave. There was also an increase in the collection of care and sickness benefits by employees.
