Most polluted cities based on PM2.5 concentration in Chile 2022
Quilpué, located in the Chilean Valparaíso region, was the most polluted city in Chile in 2022, based on fine air particulate matter concentration (PM2.5). Throughout the year, the city had an average particulate matter concentration of 39.1 micrograms per cubic meter. Furthermore, Quilpué also ranked as the third most polluted city in Latin America that year. The World Health Organization's air quality standards recommend a maximum annual average concentration of 10 μg/m³. Chile's capital Santiago reported an average PM2.5 concentration of 25.8 μg/m³ that year.
