The mean annual concentration level of PM2.5 particles in China dropped moderately in recent years. It amounted to 52.7 micrograms per cubic meter in 2017. To target the air pollution problems caused by rapid industrialization and high energy consumption, the Chinese government released strict action plans with specific PM2.5 reduction targets for different economic regions.
