In 2022, Panama was the most tourism-dependent economy in Latin America, with the sector directly and indirectly accounting for approximately 16 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP). The Dominican Republic followed in the ranking that year, with a share of total tourism contribution to GDP of 15 percent.
