Brazil's LGPD: share of companies prepared

As of August 2019, approximately 85 percent of companies surveyed in Brazil stated that they were not prepared for the General Data Protection Law (LGPD, as abbreviated in Portuguese), which entails a series of requirements and was set to go into full effect in August 2021. Moreover, seven out of ten (73 percent of) companies planned to hire experts on data protection. According to another survey, one out of five companies in Brazil had a department focused on managing fake news.
