Share of cyberattacks in worldwide regions 2022, by category
In 2022, multipurpose malware, which includes banking Trojans and botnets, was the most frequently reported category of cyberattack. This type of malware accounted for 32 percent of globally reported attacks and 44 percent of attacks in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Infostealers ranked second, recording the highest percentage in the APAC region at 30 percent. Among the reported categories, ransomware had the lowest share across all regions worldwide, ranging from five to nine percent.
