In marketing year 2018/2019, the preliminary export volume of groundnuts in South Africa was roughly 9.35 thousand metric tons. This represents a drop of nearly 18.75 percent from the previous year. Between 2000 and 2019 an aggregate decreasing trend can be observed, with the exported volume decreasing from 50.5 thousand metric tons in 2000/2019 (the peak within the timespan) to 9.35 thousand metric tons in 2018/2019, which is approximately an 81.49 percent fall. The lowest volume of groundnut exports can be noticed in 2016/2017, amounting to about 8.05 thousand metric tons.
