Gay Travel Index by category Dominican Republic 2023

The Dominican Republic's 2023 Gay Travel Index score was -11, making it one of Latin America's most dangerous destinations of LGBT tourists. The country received no plus points, rather only zero or negative points. The two categories for which the Dominican Republic was deducted two points each were murders and religious influence. The Caribbean country saw a deterioration in the number of intentional homicides in 2021, after a positive development in the previous years.

It has a negative impact on the rating of a country, if human rights are not observed nor guaranteed or even worse, violated." The best rated countries that year was Malta (13 points) while four countries got the lowest index score (-19 points). By category, the highest score obtained was 3 points while the lowest score was -5.
