With over 37 percent, the smart electrical appliances segment had the highest application of the total IoT patents filed by the Indian companies, in the home automation sector. This was followed by smart system security, with a 16 percent application. From 2009 until 2019, a total of approximate 185 patents IoT patents were filed under the home automation sector. Most of these companies had an information technology background.
