China's share of global energy transition-relevant minerals processed 2020
China accounts for significant processing and refining shares of several of the key minerals for the clean energy transition worldwide. As of 2020, more than 87 percent of the world's rare earth minerals, nearly 65 percent of cobalt, and nearly 58 percent of global lithium was processed in China. This marks a significant supply-chain advantage for China as the transition towards utilizing clean energy sources ramps up on a global scale.
