Number of green, social, and sustainable bonds issuers in LAC by country 2021

As of June 30, 2021, Brazil had the highest number of issuers of green, social, and sustainable (GSS) bonds among countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, totaling around 53. On the other hand, Guatemala and Paraguay had only 1 issuer each of GSS bonds. While Guatemala's first green bond was issued in 2014, Paraguay entered the bond market only in December 2020. Green, social, and sustainable (GSS) bonds are fixed-income instruments which finance projects that have a positive impact on environmental and social sustainability.
